About Nigerian Dwarf Goats

The Nigerian Dwarf is a miniature dairy goat.

Nigerian dwarfs are of West African origin. They are rising in popularity due to their small size, colorful markings and dairy characteristics. They do not require as much space or feed as their larger dairy goat counterparts. They have gentle and friendly personalities and make good companion pets. Nigerians are easy to handle, even for small children.

These gentle goats have a great temperament and make wonderful pets. They are playful and active. The bucks are easily handled, even while in season. Nigerian Dwarfs will blend in with any size and type of herd, but do not need any special treatment. They do need solid fencing as they are quite agile and adept at escape. They will certainly share a pasture amicably with any other livestock, like llamas, donkeys, cattle, or horses.

Nigerian Dwarfs will improve practically any lot, enclosure, or pasture by eating brambles and undergrowth (even weeds and poison ivy). These are plants that other animals normally don't eat.

Our Dairy Goats

We started raising goats to teach our children at an early age how to work and be responsible for other living things. It all began with a small dairy goat herd to provide milk for the farm. We decided on Nigerian Dwarfs and were fortunate to acquire a herd From Terry Peterson. Terry had developed a well rounded milk herd from some excellent milking stock brought in from around the country. We focus heavily on milk production and are very serious about the process that goes into milking genes.

Our goats are registered ADGA. They are a valuable and important part of our soap making process. All of our goats are loved and treated with great care and kindness. Happy goats produce full buckets! These goats are very gentle and easy to handle. They give us great satisfaction, while providing the opportunity for real-world, hands-on work. The soap we sell helps maintain the animals and the farm.
